A private investor for 20+ years, I manage private portfolios and write about investing. You can read my market musings on three different sites: 1) The Deipnosophist, dedicated to teaching the market's processes and mechanics; 2) Investment Poetry, a subscription site dedicated to real time investment recommendations; and 3) Seeking Alpha, a combination of the other two sites with a mix of reprints from this site and all-original content. See you here, there, or the other site!

And so it goes

In this 'old' post, I alerted readers to an opportunity in Meadow Valley/MVCO. Yesterday, after a whopping 4 weeks of building a short term base, the shares broke up with explosive volume. Who knows what today will bring -- upside follow-through? a return to the base? -- but the demand is apparent.

Price, volume, pattern, and trend -- the continuum, in my terminology. If you trade for a living, this is one method to be consistently successful at it. Nothing says this specific opportunity is for you, but this pattern does qualify as a template for future opportunities. Study it, know it, so that future price oscillations do not cause you to utter in exasperation, "Uh, what just happened?"
