A private investor for 20+ years, I manage private portfolios and write about investing. You can read my market musings on three different sites: 1) The Deipnosophist, dedicated to teaching the market's processes and mechanics; 2) Investment Poetry, a subscription site dedicated to real time investment recommendations; and 3) Seeking Alpha, a combination of the other two sites with a mix of reprints from this site and all-original content. See you here, there, or the other site!

Interesting and notable

That Google/GOOG hires Vint Cerf is interesting in and of itself. What offers the potential for this event to prove notable is whether both parties view Vint's new position as something other than merely titular.

The following quote (from the linked article) offers only one indication that Vint and Google want to create something more than each party otherwise would, if they were to continue working independent of the other...

"While it presents itself as a web interface to most people, Google could just as well present itself as a programmable interface, which means that you can start writing software that gets information through the eyes, sort of speak, of Google," Cerf said. "That creates a vocabulary, if you like, that programmable systems can use in order to take advantage of what Google is capable of doing with its gigantic database."
